The Directors

 

John Morse

John Morse
Senior director John Morse is an established solicitor with vast experience in commercial property, commercial matters and licensing.

John’s licensing expertise has led him to successfully represent national companies and PLCs in Liquor, Betting and Gaming Licensing throughout Swansea, South Wales and the rest of the UK. John actively advises hotels, restaurants and brewers as well as individuals on all aspects of licensing, from planning and acquisitions to licences and appeals.

John Morse specialises in commercial matters, such as buying and selling businesses/assets and commercial leases. John Morse also undertakes trust, tax and estate planning work.

 

Andrew Sivertsen

Andrew Sivertsen
Since joining the Swansea law firm in August 2000, Andrew Sivertsen has overseen all aspects of general, civil and commercial litigation, including family and matrimonial, and civil and commercial disputes.

Andrew has conducted matters in small claim trials and assisted in appeals at the Royal Court of Justice in London.

Andrew also has experience under the Licensing Act 2003 and represented Mitchells and Butler in the first appeal to the Magistrates Court under this new legislation. In addition to this, Andrew practices in the area of commercial property.

 

Michelle Valerio

Michelle Valerio
Michelle Valerio specialises in property work including residential and commercial transactions; acquisitions and sales of business; landlord and tenant work (including licences and assignment work); and all aspects of business and commercial matters.  She also specialises in probate, Wills and estate planning, and undertakes specialist general civil litigation related to property and estate matters.

Michelle operated as a sole practitioner for 5 years and Michelle’s extensive experience includes commercial matters. She has undertaken a range of commercial work including commercial property, general civil litigation (High Court and Mercantile work) and employment. She has taken cases to the court of appeal and has recently won a case in the Supreme Court of Spain.

In 2009 Michelle merged her practice with John Morse Solicitors.

 

Sonia McGarrigle

Sonia McGarrigle
Director Sonia McGarrigle joined the South Wales law firm following a recent merger between John Morse Solicitors and McGarrigle-Jones Solicitors Limited.

Since qualifying in 1996, Sonia has established herself as a leading professional in medical negligence and personal injury law throughout Wales.

Sonia is a fluent Welsh speaker and has been a member of the Law Society Clinical Negligence Accreditation Panel since September 2000. Sonia also has Senior Litigator status with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Since joining John Morse Solicitors Sonia has developed the clinical and medical negligence department assisting in both birth injury and spinal injury cases. Sonia acts exclusively for clinical negligence and personal injury claimants with many cases run on a ‘No Win, No Fee’ basis. Some of her successful cases have been reported on Lawtel, an online case directory for solicitors and barristers.

 

Laura Munday

Laura, an alumnus of Swansea University, holds an LLB Honours degree with a 2:1 classification and a distinction in the Postgraduate Legal Practice Course.

Upon Graduation, she joined our firm in 2013 and qualified as a Solicitor in January 2019, Her dedication and expertise led to her promotion to a Director of the firm in January 2024.

Laura brings extensive experience as a property lawyer, specialising in all facets of Residential Property. This includes handling transactions related to buying, selling, re-mortgaging, transfers, new builds and leasehold property.

In addition to her property law expertise, Laura also undertakes Estate work. She is proficient in drafting Wills, creating Lasting Powers of Attorney and administering Estates.

When she is not immersed in her legal work, Laura leads an active lifestyle. She has a passion for dance, both as a participant and a teacher. She also weightlifting at the gym and gymnastics.

 

Matthew Thomas

Matthew graduated with a History degree from Cardiff University before undertaking the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course.                                                  

Matthew joined John Morse Solicitors in 2017 and qualified as a Solicitor in January 2020.

Within the firm, Matthew mainly deals with residential and commercial property work and acts in respect of sales, purchases, mortgages and leases, as well as assisting with property litigation and Landlord and Tenant matters.

Outside of work, Matthew is an avid sports fan, playing football for a local team and being a Swansea City season ticket holder. Matthew is also a keen long-distance runner.

Matthew was appointed a director of the firm in January 2024.

 

Solicitors and Conveyancers

Rose Clinch

Rose studied History and Classics at Swansea University and went on to obtain a Graduate Diploma in Law and a Legal Masters in Drafting.

After graduating, Rose began her period of recognised training with the Ministry of Justice in Poole Magistrates Court as a Legal Advisor, and came to John Morse

Solicitors in August 2021. Since then, Rose has recently qualified as a solicitor and specialises in both residential and commercial conveyancing as well as

property litigation.

 

 

Lisa Peters

Lisa is a Residential Conveyancing Paralegal and qualified in 2018. 

Lisa joined the firm in August 2022 having spent 10 years at another Swansea law firm.  Prior to returning to Wales in 2012 with her family, Lisa worked at law firms in

London and Peterborough.

Within the firm, Lisa deals with residential property work in respect of sales, purchases, mortgages and transfers of equity.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending music/comedy events and walking her two dogs.
